I was trying to find the canonical repository for xmonad-extras,
and while searching, I wondered why it's not part of github.com/xmonad?

Because none of us runs/owns it.

Per Hackage, http://projects.haskell.org/xmonad-extras and dmwit and
dschoepe are the maintainers. Talk to one of them about the possibility of
moving it into the xmonad org.
